Foujita, the roaring twenties, exhibition
From Wednesday, March 7 2018 to Sunday, July 15 2018
Between two cultures
The Maillol Museum presents an exhibition about the Japanese artist, Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita, who became a naturalised Frenchman. More than a hundred major works, from public and private collections, retrace the exceptional nature of Foujita's roaring twenties in Montparnasse, surrounded by his friends Modigliani, Zadkine, Indenbaum, Kisling, Pascin and Van Dongen. The exhibition focuses on the artist's first highly productive period in Paris between 1913 and 1931.
Visitors will find themselves immersed in the history of a unique destiny, that of an artist moving between two cultures.
The exhibition aims to emphasise both the fantasies of this extravagant man and his rise to the summit of his art.
